New PhD positions coming in early 2023
2022-12-23
The Swedish Research Council has decided on financing a new doctoral school ReSource in information studies with three new paid doctoral student positions placed at Uppsala University. The positions will be announced in early 2023.
ReSource is a research school funded by the Swedish Research Council (2023-2026). All Library and Information Studies departments at Swedish higher education institutions are included. The coordinator is the Swedish School of Library and Information Science (SSLIS) at the University of Borås. Further participating institutions are Linnaeus University, Lund University, Södertörn University, Umeå University, and Uppsala University.
ReSource takes as its starting point the current “crisis of information,” characterised by, among other things, the proliferation of misinformation and conspiracy ideologies, the commercialisation of the public information infrastructure, the entry of AI technologies into more and more areas, and the increasing distrust of traditionally trusted institutions. The research school explores practices of informational reading and source criticism through analyses of the interplay between changing and evolving (commercial) information infrastructures, societal institutions, and the expectations and experiences of people in different roles.
The announcement and appointment of three fully-funded doctoral positions at Uppsala University will take place in the spring 2023 term. Queries about positions at Uppsala University can be directed to the director of the doctoral programme, professor Isto Huvila.
