Master’s programme in ALM

The department of ALM offers a two year Master’s Programme in Archive, Library and Museum Studies. The programme has three specialisations: Archival science, Library & information science, and Museum & heritage studies

Some courses included in the programme are common for all three specialisations; others are specific for the chosen specialisation. The teaching language is Swedish.

Archival science

At the Master’s programme in ALM, specialisation Archival science, we study the management and preservation of modern digital records as well as traditional paper records. Archival theory and archival law are other features of the education. The teaching language is Swedish.

Library & information science

Library & information science (LIS) deals with the ways knowledge and information are organised, managed, and mediated. Central concepts in the education at the Master’s programme in ALM, specialisation LIS, are libraries, knowledge organisation, information seeking and use. The teaching languages is Swedish.

Museum & heritage studies

The Master’s programme in ALM, specialisation Museum & heritage studies, has an interdisciplinary profile. Important themes in the education include the theory and practice of collecting, exhibition techniques, cultural environments, and the role of cultural heritage in conflict areas. The teaching language is mainly Swedish.
